Three kinds of mold, made to order in Pittsburgh. The difference that matters most is heat: only silicone goes in an oven.
| Silicone molds | Vacuum-formed trays | Laser-cut stencils | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kinds | One-piece trays, flexible sheets, two-part molds, clip-together jackets | Rigid vacuum-formed trays, including chocolate-bar and medallion trays | Latte-art dusting stencils, cake and tiramisu dusting stencils, logo stencils |
| Made of | Platinum-cure silicone | Food-safe PETG sheet | 1.5 mm cast acrylic |
| Temperature | −40 °F to 450 °F | Cold food only — never the oven | Room temperature — dust, don't bake |
| Good for | Baking, chocolate, gummies, soap, candles, resin | Chocolate, candy, caramels, ice, branded bars and favours | Coffee shops, bakeries, cocoa/sugar dusting, branded latte art |
| Ready in | about a week | about a week | about a week |
| Watch out | One use per mold: a mold used for resin or candles never goes back to food. | Hand-wash only, and nothing hot: the sheet softens well below baking temperature. | Hand-wash. Fine detail thinner than about 1 mm can't be cut — the designer tells you. |
We make the mold, never what goes in it — a chocolate-bar mold is a plastic pouring tray, built the same way as any other.
You do not need a 3D file, and you do not need to know anything about manufacturing.
Bring a 3D file and we build the mold around it. A logo, a photo or an AI-generated image works too — we make the shape from it.
Accepts .stl files, or a logo/photo as .svg, .png, or .jpg — up to 25 MB, up to 320 mm (12.6 in) on the longest side. We send back a 3D preview and a price before anything is made.
Send us a file or imageStart from one of our shapes or a chocolate-bar mold and put your own words on it — a name, a date, a logo. No 3D file needed, and nothing to learn.
This is the fastest route to a mold nobody can buy off a shelf: type "Svetlana & Gene · 4/23/2017" and watch it land on the face of the bar in 3D.
Personalize a bar moldChoose something we have already built, then set the size and how many cavities you want. The tooling exists, so these are the cheapest and the quickest.
Every ready-made design is a real mold we have made before, not a fixed product — open one and it becomes yours at whatever size and cavity count you set.
Browse ready-made moldsDescribe what you want, or upload a picture of it, and we generate the shape for you. Sign in to start — new accounts get 15 free credits (about five concept images and two 3D models), and you only pay if you order the mold.
You get concept images to choose from, then a real 3D model you can spin, resize and send straight into the mold designer. It is the same designer either way; this just fills in the shape.
Open Design LabNo file and no idea how to make one? Describe what you want and we will draw it, quote the design work, and show you the mold before anything is charged.
Priced per job, because a logo cleanup and a sculpted figure are not the same task. Ask and we will tell you before you commit.
Ask about design workDon't have a 3D file and not sure where to get one? Here's where to find one, free.
Most orders ship in about a week from the day we approve the design. Design approval usually happens the same day you order. Your card is authorized, not captured — nothing is charged until a person confirms the design will pour correctly.
Shipping is calculated at checkout from your address — real carrier rates (USPS/UPS). US only. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
Working to an event date? Say so in the order notes and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it before we take the order.
Ordering the same mold repeatedly, or fitting out a production kitchen? The tooling-once model gets much better at volume. Tell us what you need and we will price it properly.
Ask about bulk pricingStill deciding? Send us your shape and we show you the finished mold in 3D, priced, before you commit to anything.
